- Splits
-
- Use this screen to enter stock splits, stock dividends (which are really
-
- just little splits management hopes you'll mistake for dividends) and
-
- reverse splits (see page >B6>-22 of your manual), and, under certain
-
- circumstances (page >B6>-19), dividend reinvestments.
-
-
-
- You can enter a simple ratio like "2 for 1" or, if you prefer, the
-
- actual new number of shares in exchange for the actual old number. To a
-
- computer, "323.4067 for 311.0084" is no harder to handle than "2 for 1."
-
-
-
- Though we allow you to split a stock in just one portfolio, you will
-
- ordinarily want to do so in "All Portfolios." The only reason I can
-
- think of to select a single portfolio for a stock split would be if it
-
- were a non-taxable portfolio and you wanted to treat dividend
-
- reinvestments as described on page >B6>-19, at the same time as you
-
- owned other shares of the same symbol in one or more taxable portfolios.
